About 8 months ago I decided to throw away our old hand held can opener. It was looking kind of the worse for wear and should have been put in the trash many years before even. So I bought a nice red handled can opener from HIT one day. Yeah! I thought. A nice clean can opener. Then I tried to use it. I don’t know how (or if it’s even possible) but I had purchased a left handed can opener. As in you turn the little turn thingy (am I great at description or what??) with your left hand clockwise, not with the right hand like a normal can opener. I have spent the last 8 months struggling to open cans and have most recently resorted to just getting it to punch holes all along the rim so I can use a fork to pry the lid up a bit and pour out the can contents.
Death of a can opener
Well no longer! Today I went into Globus after school drop off and purchased that black beauty pictured up there. A right handed can opener. Finally I can stop spending ten minutes swearing at the can opener in order to open a can of soup!
Bring on the champagne baby, we are celebrating!
Ok, domestic drama over, back to the regularly scheduled blogging.
Not with a can opener, but I’ve had similar experiences. You think, “Gah! I just bought this; I shouldn’t have get ANOTHER one!” SO you endure, and it’s all so silly. I think I did that with a jumbo box of non-drawstring kitchen trash bags. I’d purchased this big box by accident, it was a nightmare hauling each flimsy bag to the wheelie bin outside (struggling with tying the top, contents spilling….ewww) but -BY GOLLY- I wasn’t going to throw the stupid box away… I used them and grumbled the whole time. Should have just bought a new box. I think it took me 6 months to use up the wretched things.
