Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It’s October so that means it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  This is a great cause to champion to get women to have mammograms for prevention and early detection.  You can go to Shop to Benefit Breast Cancer site to purchase some great items to further support research.  There are also walks for the Susan G. Komen Foundation (which I participated in in 2006 right here in Germany via the American Women’s Club of Cologne).  There are lots of events you can participate in to make a difference.  For information on breast cancer itself, including how to be tested, get help and offer support please visit  The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month website.  Or you can visit the American Cancer Society to make a donation.

Our support can make a difference!

I will be mailing out 15 pink Celebrate Courage bracelets for free for those interested in supporting the cause (once they arrive here to me :).  Please leave me your email in the comments and I will provide you with details.

  1. COunt me in. Back home, NC State Women’s basketball team hosts a game to raise money for the cause. There coach has battled and is currently battling breast cancer. The stadium is filled in a sea of pink. Your post reminds me how much I’ll miss this year’s game.

  2. I’m on board! One week after I got here I found out my BF from the 4th grade had very aggressive breast cancer. She was a candidate for a new drug trial and is really doing well. If you can consider chemo doing well…. Hate being so far when things like this come up.
