Today is a busy day around here. The boys need haircuts. We are going to an St Martins (aka Christmas) market in Aldendorf (something like that, it’s famous for pottery) and we are having a friend over for dinner. Which means I have to clean, that is nothing new.
I slept in the basement last night with Boo so I could get a full nights rest away from Chick (which worked great!) But Boo woke at 6 and I told him if dad was upstairs then go up but he wasn’t so he came back down with me. I went back to sleep. Half and hour later Boo wakes me to inform me: ‘You were really snoring.’ Umm, thanks. I know, I was sleeping. That’s kinda the point.
Anyway we watched the Night at the Museum last night (or Nachts im Museum) and it was fantastic. Boo said he loved it and that’s high praise from this kiddo about a movie. It was really cute and I hope it makes it into our regular rotation. Next week – Goonies. Yep (Die Goonies) that classic was found yesterday during our Christmas present buying sojourn at Karstad. Only two more gifts for kids and then they are done, wahoo!
In some great news my aunt had a heart transplant last week and was already released from the hospital. Holy modern science Batman. That seems really fast to me but apparently she’s doing really well so it’s great.
For the first time yesterday I went to pick up Boo from school without a little monkey clinging to my side (Hubby worked from home so he kept an ear out while she napped). Boo didn’t even notice! As we got to the car I asked him if he thought it was weird that I didn’t have an extra appendage with me. The kid is wicked smart but sometimes I do wonder about him. But we had the most wonderful random conversation on the way home in the car. I don’t remember what about but it was the first time in a long time that he and I have been out completely on our own. In fact I can’t even remember the last time that happened. It was nice, he really gets chatting when Chick isn’t around.
One weird thing that’s been happening is I am forgetting english words for things. Seriously. How can I be forgetting english words? It’s not like I am speaking German and getting confused. I don’t speak German and yet some days I really struggle to come up with the english word for something. It’s freaking me out. I need to get out of this place!
Not a lot else going on except I am sitting here doing this instead of oh, say cleaning or getting my family showered and dressed. Yep, procrastination, it’s my new (old) friend.
