Random Tuesday Thoughts

Today is Tuesday.  Which means it’s time for Random Tuesday Thoughts with Keely at the Un-Mom.  I love this event.  It gives me a chance to spout random stuff at all of you and disguise it as a blog carnival or whatever they call it.  Hehe, poor you.
I’ve had a lot of random stuff go on so be prepared.
Today I’m also posting over at Venus vs Mars.  I have a ‘difference of opinion’ question about religion today so go check it out.
I have a bloggy friend who is sick.  And that sucks.  She is young and beautiful and should be having the best time of her life in high school but she’s stuck in a hospital.  I was delighted to hear that she enjoyed my pictures last week though.  So Victoria 🙂 be prepared.  I’m going to give you a picture everyday this week if it helps you feel better.
Yesterday I got the brilliant idea to clean out the fridge.  I admit I normally do this once a week on a shopping day so that I can actually fit all the food I just bought into the fridge.  Well, of course there’s a bowl of rice in there and of course I dropped the thing on the recently washed floor.  Did I mention we do not have foot kicker thingies on the bottom of our cabinets?  We’ll be finding rice for the next ten months.
This is my baby girl two years ago when she lived thousands of miles from us on the other side of the world.  Five months before we met.

When I decided to change my password for my email I never realized that meant my blackberry would no longer receive emails.  Apparently they don’t like it when you change your password without telling them and kundenservice gets all up in your face about it (but apparently not in your email account.)  I knew it was a bit fishy when I didn’t get an email all day…  All fixed now but let it be a warning to all of you.  Never change your passwords.  Ever.
My buddy Crash, as in the Crash Test Dummy Diaries whom I luv posted that picture of a kane spider on her blog again yesterday.  Dang it.  Took me forever to get rid of that image the last time she put it up there.  Crash, please have mercy on a girl at 7:30 in the morning okay? No more spidey pics.  You. Are. Creeping. Me. Out.
Yesterday, it was such a day!  I also got a Facebook request from a girl/woman/whatever I haven’t talked to in 7 years and haven’t seen since we were kids.   It’s incredible how wonderful it is to ‘see’ her and hear what she’s been up to.  I hear about her via my parents who are friends with her parents and such.  I’m starting to believe Facebook is not evil.
I posted about a book find (again yesterday) and decided I needed to get more with the program.  I recently read Anna Karenina (and loved it by the way) War and Peace is a lofty aspiration on the shelf I haven’t tackled yet but plan to by Christmas.  I ordered a few collections by Twain and if you can believe it Catcher in the Rye, which I have never read. Where the Red Fern Grows – yes. A Separate Peace – yes (and will re-read it to this day I love that book.)  All Quiet on the Western Front – yes.  But Catcher in the Rye I hadn’t read.  So I plan to.  Should be here by the end of the week along with Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.  Now I just need someone to watch the kids…any volunteers??
Some people in the blog world bug me, I mean really bug me and I simply can’t figure them out. And yet I still ‘listen’ to them.
At the end of my street is a produce stand that just opened again Sunday for the season.  We bought the yummy ugly bumpy apples that I loved last year.  I was so disappointed though, they were mushy.
Did I mention my son is on two weeks of holiday that started Monday?  Two Weeks.  Oh yeah, it’s going to be a looong two weeks.  Pardon me if I don’t visit your blogs or leave my usually sparkling comments.  The kids may have duct taped my mouth and tied me to a chair while running around like the lovely hooligans they are.
UPDATE:  I am FREAKIN’ Genuis.  I decided to make the apple thing I mentioned in my comments.  Guess who just threw brown sugar all over the kitchen (floor and counter this time). I give up.  It’s 4:30 happy hour is close enough…

  7. Visiting from RTT…Well, I won’t be visiting the spider blog any time soon. Thanks for the warning. And I just got my first friend request ignored on Facebook. I’m crushed. Why would someone I haven’t talked to in 15 years not want to be my friend today? I don’t get it.And your daughter is cute. And I love that you are a reader and trying to plug in the holes of your reading the classics. I’m doing the same thing. I just read Jane Eyre for the first time. In fact, I write about it a little bit in my RTT post.Anyway, enjoyed your post.

  8. I cleaned out the fridge a few weeks ago, took all day. And by clean, I mean remove shelves, soak in water and got the crudded stuff off, the whole 9 yards. Happy RTT.

  9. Want to come clean my fridge? I think there are congealed substances in there that are stronger than super glue.Wait – am *I* one of those bloggers??(puts on mind control device)

  10. I wandered over from Keely’s place. I read Anna Karenina in high school and to this day it is one of my favorites. I tried to reread it a few years ago, but wasn’t successful (seems I can never find enough time to read more than an occasional People magazine these days). Funny enough, I’ve never read Catcher in the Rye either. I’ve wanted to, just never got around to it.

  12. I only wish I could clean out my fridge as often as you. I found something last week that I couldn’t decide if it was cake or meat.We adopted our little ones too! Ours were only 30 miles away. I can’t imagine the anticipation you felt knowing yours was halfway across the world.

  13. Blueviolet – I’ll take a picture. They are the ugliest apples but usually are yummy. I guess I could just cook them down with brown sugar to put over vanilla ice cream..hmmmKimberly – You stop by any day of the week, you are SO good for my ego! (brilliant mind, I’ve got you so snowed haven’t i?)Blonde – Pie? Did I miss Penelope’s Adventure today? I must go see!K – Yeah, I know. But the ones that bug me..also intrigue me. It’s like a sickness.Stacie – Thanks. You’re a sweetheart. Provided I can find two seconds I plan to stop by and check out your site.Peggy – Eww! I did not need to know about the maggots! lolJamie – Love your picture. Facebook, I’m still maybe undecided on that one.Missy – I didn’t say I had time to facebook, that would be like saying I have time to read blogs ;)Jenners – I’ve rejected someone when I didn’t know who they were but that’s really it. I never could get into Jane Eyre, I don’t know why.Cameron – You are very brave. Very. Frankly I don’t think I’m going to risk it.Keely – Heck no! I love Un-Mom. It’s one of those people who you read faithfully (though you aren’t sure why) and comment and be all witty. But they never stop by to visit. Even when I offer up cookies. I just don’t get it.Sandies – Catcher came today and I’ve done really well ignoring the kids to read it. Anissa – Thanks. It’s a fun event isn’t it?Steenky – My fridge is SO small think about the size of a dorm fridge maybe a bit bigger (I kid you not) so if I don’t clean it, we’d never have food. This is also why I shop every two to three days. I can’t wait to move and get the big side-by-side and knock over Costco.

  14. First timer here and this looks like it could be therapeutic for me!!Loved your post–I, too, hate spider pictures. Don’t mind actual spiders cause I can smoosh them, but pictures always seem to be right there in your face before you know it–larger than life.Your daughter is so precious. And YES, some bloggers but the hell(o) out of me!Have a great day!

  17. I try to clean out the refrigerator on shopping day, too…but how long does sauerkraut last? It’s been in there for about 3 weeks now, but I’ve heard rumors it lasts forever!

  18. Valerie – told you!Missty – I read your post and I forgot! I think I did have to clean up the brown sugar, that stuff is sticky! All I was trying to do was shake the container to break it up and the top flew off. Figures. At least it was better than the time the bottle of Curry Ketchup fell out of the fridge and broke…that was gross!Ginny Marie – Until it stinks? Really I have no idea. I won’t eat it.Dadshouse – She brings on the smile when she wants something. I like your idea of the ants, though Chick was willing to lick the floor, I decided perhaps that wasn’t the best solution. I have to go to the store (again) today. I think vodka will be favored on the list…Teri – Thanks. You have to read it. I’m already almost a 100 pages in and other than swearing I am loving the book.
