Random Tuesday Thoughts : Busy Version

It’s Tuesday.  Time to grab the neato button from Keely at the Un Mom and link it up.  Be random or be yourself (for me there is no difference).
I would have thought I would be a tiny bit prepared for moving (I’ve only been dreaming of it forever).  But the more I think about the things I’m going to have to figure out – renting a house, buying a car, car insurance, banking stuff (I’m going to have to be in charge of paying bills.  Now that’s scary.)  Finding a pediatrician, registering the kids for school, finding a new speech therapist for Chick.  That’s not even half of it.  Some of that has to be accomplished from thousands of miles away.  There are plenty of things I haven’t even thought of yet.  32 days seems like it isn’t going to be long enough to get it all done.
Why is my son’s school so weird?  For the end of year first grade party they’ve (and here I mean the psycho room mothers) have decided to load the kids on yet another bus and go to a pizza restaurant, learn how to make pizza and then eat it.  Eh?  What ever happened to cupcakes, chips and juice in the classroom thirty minutes before the end of school?  Please tell me that I’m not the only one who finds this just slightly weird.
Time is short these days.  I haven’t been able to stop by many of you to return the comment love.  It may be like that for a bit.  Hopefully a laptop will be waiting for me once I arrive at MIL’s house in July (we’re staying there for a bit) so I can still get online every now and then. They are saying 6 weeks till our stuff will arrive in the US.  Mid August.  Think about that for a minute.  I have to fit everything we need for the six weeks into four suitcases (books, toys, clothes, essentials).  It’s not the first time but I can’t say I’m looking forward to that.  At least I only have to deal with one season: hot.
A plane disappeared over the ocean.  Anyone else hear about that?  Just up and disappeared. No one knows where it went.  How does that happen??  Is it LOST come to life?
Do you ever get somewhat obsessed with new music?  I can’t stop listening to an album I just bought.  Repeatedly, even when I’m in trying to sleep.
We went on a river boat cruise on Sunday.  I think I got eaten by every bug in Germany.
I like buddha statues.  I have two small ivory ones we got in Taipei. I don’t know why I like them but I do.
Not much other random stuff to say today because it’s all too jumbled up. Have a Happy Random Tuesday.  Go see Keely and see who else is playing along today.

  1. Oh man, that plane disappearing just freaked me out. I hate flying and you just gave me one more reason to keep hating it.Yuck at having to pack two months worth of stuff into two suitcases. Your MIL will surely buy the kids lots of toys and stuff to keep them entertained if she’s anything like my mom. Uh, that pizza field trip could be cool earlier in the year but not for the end of the year party. Weird.

  2. Ah see the best part of the “hot” season is clothes can be optional when it’s too hot, you can live in your bathsuits, and they dont’ take up much packing space. 🙂 Good luck with the “homeless” section of life. I moved from the US back to canada and lived with my parents for 5days while we waited for our house to close.

  3. Yeah the pizza party sounds dumb. But wait til you get back here. The moms freak out about getting the kids too hoppped up on sugar, so we have to have veggies and dip and cheese and crackers – dumb!!!!I say – pack two swimsuits, a pair of shorts and 3 t shirts. Done! Have a great day!

  4. I thought about LOST too when they were reporting on the missing plane. Veddy interesting. And I can’t imagine living out of a suitcase for that long. Especially with little children.

  6. The album, I am embarrassed a it to admit (but of course I bring it on myself, lol) is Twlight. now before you knock actually go listen to it. Muse (Supermassive Black Hole), Linkin Park (Leave Out All The Rest), Collective Soul (Tremble for my beloved), Dubussy (Clair de Lune). There’s some great stuff on it. It’s more eclectic-rock-funky than my norm but I like it.

  7. That’s some good randomness. Good luck with getting everything ready for the move. I don’t envy your job.Oh, and I remember getting to go to a pizza parlor when I was in elementary school for a field trip but I was in 5th grade. I thought it was fun, but I wouldn’t want to be the one to take care of all of the kids and make sure they don’t sneeze or cough on the pizza.

  8. Flying over a large body of water tends to get me freaked out abit anyway…..and now that one just up and disappeared??!! Yikes we’re going to Hawaii in a few weeks and it’s not the type of news story that I like to hear. I imagine you don’t enjoy it much either! Happy RTT anyway!

  9. Any kind of moving is a pain, but moving the distance you’ll be moving is way more stressful – hopefully you’ll get all you need done in that 32 days…(fingers crossed!)Loading the kids on a bus to go to a pizza place, learn how to make pizza then eat it for the end of year first grade party? Definitely weird. Of course the ice cream party Princess Nagger was supposed to have tomorrow for her last day of school got changed into a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium (almost 2 hours from here) since they couldn’t go on the planned day of yesterday…you’d think any ‘big’ events like the pizza or aquarium one would make more sense earlier in the year…you’d think.Happy RTT – and good luck with the packing! 🙂

  11. Was it over the Bermuda Triangle? The pizza-making party could just have easily been accomplished in the classroom. It sounds like a nice idea IN THEORY. Like communism.
