Today my blog has been hijacked by my Hubby. But hijacked with a very good cause in mind, one we both believe in. I would appreciate if you could read the post below and help if you are able.
As readers of this blog you most likely know that we have been living in Germany for over 3 years now. Although we are definitely ready to say, “Been there, done that…” I must admit it has been an incredible experience. Really, how many people have the opportunity to live and work in a foreign country and experience the culture first hand.
We have been fortunate that my employer wanted to bring us here and that Germany has allowed us to come. In a very broad way, the country has really given us a lot over the last three years, which brings me to the purpose of this post… Giving Back.
Like any other industrialized country Germany has social issues which need help. To give back, I am joining a charity bike ride, Ride for Reading.
The ride will start on July 5th in Rostock, Germany and travel over 500 miles before arriving on July 11th in Prague, Czech Republic – Yeah, that’s right, another country!
This ride, in cooperation with Stiftung Lesen, will raise funds to establish “Reading and Media Clubs” for children, ages 8–12 in schools located in socially and economically disadvantaged areas.
So, why am I telling you this? Because I am looking for your support. Each rider is asked to raise funds to participate in the event. How can you support me? Well, as nice as it would be for you to pedal a few miles for me, it would be even better if you could make a donation to Stiftung Lesen. There are two ways you can do it, the first would be directly to the organization. The bank information along with the BLZ for German account holders and the IBAN and BIC codes for overseas transfers are below. I just ask that you put “Ride for Reading” “Sponsoring PW” in the reference field.
Account 200 9520 00
(BLZ 550 400 22 Germany only)
IBAN DE33 5504 0022 0200 9520 00
Alternatively, you can paypal your donation to me and I will then transfer from my German account directly to the charity and send you a printout of the transfer. If you choose this option, either email the blog owner or leave a comment so we can get in touch with you and give you the details.
I thank you in advance for your support. I will be sure to get some pics in to your wonderful Blogging Mama to post from the ride!
