Random Tuesday Thoughts: The New Black

It’s time for Random Tuesday Thoughts with Keely at The Un-Mom.  Write out your random thoughts and link up.  Random; it’s the new black.
Did you know Mary Poppins is a freakishly long movie?  It’s over two hours long and was made in what the 1960’s or something?  We’ve watched it about thirty times in the last few weeks. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious you know?  {Blogger didn’t even count that as misspelled… that’s freaky.}
Chick has decided that anytime before 11 pm is not an appropriate time to go to bed and will proceed to scream her lungs out until you let her out of her room.  Hence why we’ve watched a lot of Mary Poppins lately.
Boo has a week and half of school left.  Then he’s officially a second grader.  How did he get to be so old?
We have two weekends left before moving.  This weekend we are in Berlin for the Velothon and I am actually looking forward to the five hour train ride on Friday.  It beats driving with the kids anyway.  Now if the weather could be nice that would be spectacular!
I finally settled on what car to buy, now I just have to actually find it.  It seems I can’t escape the Germans.  They do make nice cars though. {I want the new Wolfsburg Edition with that really nice engine.  Of course Hubby had to point out that I’ve gotten the most tickets since we’ve been here 4 to his 3.  It’s not my fault it’s Lucy’s.  I can’t help it if she likes to take the corners fast!  I used to have a Jetta in my college days.  Lovely cars.}

I wish the house thing would be as easy.  We’ve found several and are always a second too late and miss out.  Or like the last one they posted pictures of the way it looked… four years ago and want $7,000 as a deposit.  Yeah, sure.  I’m fairly certain I’ve got that in change in the couch cushions.
Even though I said I’d give up getting a new Blackberry and just get regular phone service Hubby is getting me the Blackberry anyway.  Yea!  I am SO addicted to Crackberry. I need a 12 step program.
Proof: They like each other.

Here’s one of the things I don’t understand when a sports team wins a title.  LAPD Sends Home Rowdy Lakers Crowd.  Exactly what about winning a sports event screams “Let’s damage cars and start fires!!”  Maybe it’s because I just don’t like competitive sports…
I’ve been reading and rereading the Twlight series (I seem stuck for some reason, maybe cause they are easy reads? I don’t know) but how on earth did these books get published?  Don’t get me wrong I’m not knocking the story, that is great but the books are so full of mistakes. Grammatical, tenses not matching in the same sentence, double words and additional words that simply didn’t get edited out.  I would think the publisher would be a bit embarrassed by that considering their popularity when a sometimes freelance editor like me finds numerous mistakes in every book.  Did anyone even edit the thing?  Little, Brown & Company isn’t exactly a chump change publisher either.  They are A list.
I’m wondering, have you heard of Feedmill?
I’m rounding out this edition of RTT with an iPod playlist.  Oh yeah, it’s random.
1. Have I told you lately – Van Morrison
2. Loving you – Minnie Riperton
3. Listen up – Brandon Heath
4. Sunrise – Norah Jones
5. Paint and Pillows – Julie Roberts
6. Trouble is – Jars of Clay
7. Proof – Coldplay
8. Flight of the passing fancy – Squirrel Nut Zippers
9. Sonata 1 in G Minor – Bach
10. Bring on the day – Charlotte Martin
Happy Random Tuesday Thoughts.  Head over to Keely’s and check up on the Random.  We aim to please.

  2. I love it when my kids hold hands. It's so sweet! I've thought about taking the train instead of driving six hours to see my parents. It has to be easier, right? Let us know how your train ride is!

  5. Hmmmm…maybe I should start playing Mary Poppins to get Princess Nagger off her Teen Titans kick… 😉 I'm glad I'm not alone with the battle of bedtime – PN thinks anytime before 11pm is too early, too – especially since it's summertime so she should be allowed to stay up late and sleep in late. It's going to backfire on her (and me) when school starts again – she's going to have to learn to become a morning person for first grade! ;)LOVED the hand-holding picture…always good to have 'proof'. ;)Good luck with the move – I hate the moving part but love the 'settling in' part. :)Happy RTT! 🙂

  6. Great Randomness. Your weekend sounds like a ton of fun. Love the photo of the kids, cute! As fars the Lakers – Well, its the area where they play – Sorry but if anything good, bad or indifferent happens its a reason to burn the city down! STUPID!! Its the same area that burned down there own stores, etc during the Rodney King riots, then wonder why the companies won't rebuild. Just wait til Wednesday when they have the “celebration parade” It will be a nightmare!

  7. Love your randomness. I also love, love, love “Mary Poppins.” I have always believed Walt Disney to be a genius. Look at the special effects of that movie, which was made 45 years ago! A genius, I tell you. Think what he could do today, with today's technology. Pair him with Steve Jobs and magic would result. That's what I always say, anyway.And I, too, have never understood why fires and mayhem are the result of sports teams winning (or losing.) What's up with that? On the other hand, I recently read a very fun book about sports — not one of those ones knee deep in stats, or chornicling the history of this or that team. No, this one talks about the big mistakes athletes make and how/why they happened. What a hoot. It's “What Were They Thinking: The Brainless Blunders that Changed Sports History.” (Not as brainless as rioting, though.)You don't have to be a sports fan (I'm not a big one) — there's enough entertainment in the book that you'll enjoy it without already knowing what position Bill Bergey played for the 1978 Philadelphia Eagles. And as for your playlist, well, you have now sentenced me to an afternoon of humming! Curses!

That's coolSorry about the house thing… sucks.Don't get the trashing things after sports wins either!And I need you to edit my blog posts… cause those are FULL of grammatical errors… that's why I could never write a book, I'd be embarrassed for someone to have to go in and edit it!

  10. Ohhhhhhhh, nice car. I had a Wolfsburg Jetta a few years back and am sorry I ever sold that car. It was sooo awesome. What's with the 11PM bedtime, is she getting sick? I hope you get some rest soon, bedtime is sacred around here, I'm sure you miss it.

  11. You crack me up! I loved your random thoughts – especially about Twilight. You know I haven't read them yet – I know, still the last person on earth – but that is something I would TOTALLY notice…despite my lack of care for grammatical tenses and such in my blog or this comment for that matter because I tend to write/type like I talk. LOL Good luck house hunting and car buying. Sounds like fun too me. ;DHave you listened to Brandi Carlisle? You might really like her if you haven't. I dig her. Oh! And I love the picture of the sweeties holding hands – too cute.
