It’s Sorta Back – Two on Tuesday but on Wednesday

Following our Easter tradition of spur-of-the-moment trips,  we are off to Luxembourg. Happy Easter and see you on Tuesday.
Reporting in for Club HASAY – Week one (for me anyway)!  I ran 4k on Saturday, we walked about 4k at least around the city (but I ate an ice cream and had gnocchi with morel mushrooms in a cream sauce for dinner.) Today we walked about 3k around the very castle pictured above – no joke! Tomorrow 4k run is planned.

Castle pictures and our visit to the awesome Butterfly World will be tomorrow.
All this sign stuff and picture stuff (hard to believe I fancy myself a writer huh?) it made me think of an idea for Tuesdays.  Actually seeing that Missty, of Life is Good, had my little ToT button on her site made me go awww.  She’s sweet!  So I’m bringing it back.  But it’s going to be on Wednesdays.  And called something else and have a new button. Confusing isn’t it?  I kinda got addicted to Keely at the Un-Mom’s Random Tuesday Thoughts. I save up the random and bring it out on Tuesdays and I just don’t want to give that up.
What I would like all of you to do is give me ideas for words.  Words to write on signs.  I’m going to take these words, one at a time and write them on a sign and then photograph them and show them to you on Wednesdays.  I will try to make the photo somehow (ie creatively thinking outside the box) relate to the word that you’ve given me.  Leave me your word choice in the comments and I can’t promise to use all of them especially those of you who leave, shall we say, more creative words?  But I will try to use as many as I can.  Start thinking of Your word and leave one for me today and of course, as I always do, I will give you Linky Love if I pick Your word to photograph.
So coming this Wednesday…

Two on Tuesday with Blogging Mama

It’s Tuesday!  The first thing to announce today before we get on with the event is the winner of yesterdays Writer Mama giveaway! In a very scientific way (umm, I printed the comments, cut them out, folded them and let my 7 year old pick one from a hat 😉

The winner is:  Kimberly Zook!
Congratulations!  Yea!  Please send me an email momof2squirts {at} yahoo {dot} com with your full name and address so I can give it to Christina and she will mail out your book.  Thank you to all who stopped by and participated!
Now on to Two on Tuesday!  I thought we’d go nostalgic today.  If you don’t know what Two on Tuesday (ToT) is here’s what we do. On Tuesday I post two questions, two thoughts, two of something.  I encourage you to add your own ‘two’ in the comments or on your own site.  If you add it to your site please link back to me, feel free to snag the nifty button below and leave a comment so I can stop by and check it out!

Two on Tuesday
Just copy and paste the code from the box above into your post.  If you need help email me by using the contact me button on the navigation bar across the top of my page.

I gave this one a lot of thought and also my answers, especially this first one because there were plenty of things to choose from.  Think back to years past (or maybe even recent years) and tell me:
#1 What’s the one thing from the past you should part with but you simply can’t bring yourself to do it?  Some examples: letters, ratty teddy bears, college stuff etc.  Make you tell me why you can’t bear to get rid of it.

The second question is another look back or possibly forward.
#2 What did you want to be when you grew up?  And have you become what you wanted to be?  You can interpret that in terms of jobs, where you are at in life, anyway you like.

#1 For me the first question has a lot of possible answers.  I tend to keep things.  Lots of things.  I have a particular sweatshirt that fits the bill though.  All it says is PCTS (which stands for Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science) my college of choice many years ago (which is now known by the name Philadelphia University, PU.  I much prefer PCTS.)  It’s a large grey sweatshirt and the letters are in a nice flower print.  It has started to achieve the little holes along the cuffs and has a light coffee stain on the bottom.  It is nearly 13 years old!  I never wear it out of the house it’s strictly the “I’m cold so I’ll throw this on while watching tv” sweatshirt. But I can not fathom getting rid of it.  I’ve tried, I simply can not do it.  It’d be like throwing away the best/hardest years of my life.  I suffered through the shared dorm room and dining hall food and I’ve got the $36,291 sweatshirt to prove it!

#2 When I was little I wanted to be lots of things.  A ballerina, a teacher, a lawyer.  Later on I wanted to be an architect and even spent a semester in college with this dream (turns out I can’t draw, as my drawing professor told me, ouch!)  I switched majors and started studying marketing.  The dream was the power suit & corner office in an advertising agency.  I am very proud that the best grades I’ve ever gotten in college (straight A’s thanks!) were in my advanced advertising and marketing classes.  It turns out I’m good at making up slogans to go with pictures and convincing you you need to buy stuff.
But what I am really doing with life is being a full-time mom and writing novels, shuffling my feet and waiting to be published.  A rather rough world to be in (on both accounts).  I’ll go back to work maybe next year after I finish my degree {note to others, don’t leave school when you only have a year left. That’s just plain stupid!} and hopefully pursue something in journalism or other writing related field.  But maybe in the meantime I’ll sell one of these four+ manuscripts floating around my desk and become a best selling novelist instead.  Now that would be something.

I’d like to add the music selections today were for nostalgia (though I do still listen to SmashMouth).  Ahh, the music of my youth!

So tell me, how would have answered Two on Tuesday this week?

Two on Tuesday with Blogging Mama

It’s time for another addition of Two on Tuesday!  This week’s theme is music so I hope everyone will participate.  If you’re not familiar with ToT here’s what we do.

All you need to do is copy the code in the box above and add it to your own post.  If you have questions or need help go to the ‘contact me’ button and let me know.  Mr Linky is making his first appearance here as well so you can link up. Actually he isn’t here.  He’s screwing up my webpage for some reason so I had to take him out.  If you play along on your own page I will manually link you in the post so please just leave a comment telling me you’ve posted to your own blog.  Many thanks and hopefully Mr Linky will work out in  the future.  Though this is the second time I’ve tried this and the second time he’s screwed up the page.

On with today’s Two –
#1 What song (or lyrics from a song) best describes your life?  It can be something that fits your mood right now or just a song you like as well.  Make sure to tell me why it fits you!

#2 What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?  What made it memorable?  If you’ve never been to a concert tell me what group you’d like to see.

My answers:
#1 I had to think about this one for awhile because there are lots of songs!  I finally chose Many the Miles by Sara Barielles.

‘There’s too many things that I haven’t done yet
Too many sunsets
I haven’t seen
You can’t waste the day wishing it’d slow down
You would have thought by now

I’d have learned something’

I really like this song because I think it fits where I am right now.  There are so many things I have yet to do and see in the world and not nearly enough time to do them in.  I’ve started making a goal list (sort of like the top things to do before you turn thirty except I’m already past thirty…).  I look forward to checking them off!

#2 Best concert.  This was nearly as hard as the first one.  I had a few to choose from.  Dave Matthews (three times) was certainly high on the list as was seeing Collective Soul before they were anybody in one of those small Philly clubs.  But I have to say hands down for memorable – Jimmy Buffett at the E-Center in Camden, NJ.  Seven years ago maybe?  We went with friends who lived in Camden and we had the great lawn seats.  If you’ve ever been to the E-Center, this can be good and bad.  It turned out to be bad on a summer’s night. It started with a whole lotta dark clouds rolling in and then thunder.  And lightening and way more rain than it takes to drown a rat.  So, soaked to the bone, shivering in the wind on the lawn, we heard Jimmy Buffett sing his legendary songs.  And even though I was really not having fun at the time I look back and see that it was the best concert I’ve ever been to.  Hands down the most memorable!  How many people can say they’ve seen Jimmy Buffett in the rain??

Two on Tuesday with Blogging Mama

It’s Tuesday so it’s time for another addition of Two on Tuesday!  ToT will be on hiatus next week while I’m gone.  I want to thank all of you for your kind words and thoughts for my mom and my family. They really mean a lot.  I debated posting today’s event but I tend to write them a few days in advance and I just happened to have a theme this week sort of about bravery.  It’s fitting.
So even though there’s a lot of bad going on around here, this week is about being brave so keep going right?
Here’s how it works, on Tuesday I post two questions, two thoughts, two of something.  I encourage you to add your own ‘two’ in the comments or on your own site.  If you add it to your site please link back to me, feel free to snag the nifty button below and please leave a comment so I can stop by and check it out!

Two on Tuesday

1. This week I am going for the theme of brave.  I got the first idea and then I saw something similar on another bloggers site (Ruby Red Slippers).  Show me a picture (or describe it if you just want to comment) the messiest room or part of your house.  I’m using it as a jumping off point to attempt to humiliate myself into cleaning (hopefully it’ll work).  Be brave!
2. What’s the one thing you wish you weren’t afraid to do?  It can be anything big or small but tell me about something you’ve always wanted to do or accomplish but have been afraid for whatever reason to do it.
My Answers:
For me, this is going to be bad.  It was a toss up whether to take a picture of the kitchen table which is a disaster or my desk, which at this moment is also a disaster.  The desk won since it is largely only my stuff (though I don’t know why everyone else’s stuff seems to magically appear on my desk or the ‘family’ related stuff seems to be my problem and should therefore live on my desk).  So here it is it’s absolutely embarrassing current state.
Desk Disaster
On one side a bag of chocolate waiting to be mailed along with the rest of my swap package, the book I’m reading, Chick’s snack dish, my manuscripts in binders, research materials and more books buried under papers, my Pirate Mickey plush and Pirate Goofy ears, Chick’s Taiwan passport (really need to put that back), various scraps of paper where I’ve no doubt written down lots of really important info, my 10 euro ticket from my famous run in with the polizei. My morning coffee cup, a small candy cup, my cell phone, notebook, Disney photo and likely a bit o’dust thrown in for fun.  I’ll clean it but it’ll likely be in a state again in no time!
The one thing I’d love to do but am way too afraid to try is parasailing.  It sounds fun and looks fun but I don’t know if I’d really enjoy being all the way up there with no control over it.  I used to like going tubing behind my parents boat as a kid when they had a little one.  But now, that’s really scary for me.  I don’t even like playing on their jetski anymore.  I also never used to be freaked out by heights but the thought of getting on a ski lift (something I’ve been doing since I was 5, although it’s been 8 years since the last time) makes me nervous.  Why is it the older I get the more scared I get?  I’d have thought it’d work the opposite way.  Older wiser and more willing to try to be young.  It hasn’t turned out that way though.  I get more afraid the older I get.
So how would you have answered Two on Tuesday this week?  (And just for Wendy at No Botox Allowed I’m leaving this post up for a bit extra this time so she can participate 😉

Two On Tuesday with Blogging Mama

It’s the vacation edition of Two on Tuesday with Blogging Mama!  I thought it would be fun to ask two vacation related questions today since I am on vacation.  If you are new to Two on Tuesday this is how it works.  On Tuesday I’ll toss out two questions, two thoughts, TWO of something.  If you want to play along you can either answer in the comments or take the questions (and my nifty button) and put the answers on your own site.  Please let me know if you do so I can stop by and see your answers.  I always share the link love if you do as well.

Two on Tuesday
Today’s questions are about vacations and summer related things.  It’s easy, simple and (hopefully) fun so play along!
What the best vacation you’ve ever been on?  If you don’t have a favorite, where would you like to go on vacation and why (dream big!)?
It’s a hot July afternoon, how would you spend the day?
My answers:  You probably think I’ll say Paris , with my absolute love of all things French, or Italy because it was one of the best summers of my young life but my favorite vacation was to Ireland three years ago.  The beauty of the place just captivated me.  The hills with rolling green and the sea with it’s brilliant blue made me wish I could live there.  The people were so friendly and welcoming and who doesn’t love a good accent?  I don’t think I’ve laughed as hard as I did driving from Kerry to Dingle on this tiny little road (on the wrong side of the road!) with Hubby and his family.  The beauty of the scenery even made me forget to get carsick. Dingle is definitely a place not to miss if you ever get to Ireland.

Road to Dingle
If it’s a hot afternoon I’d want to be at the lake at my parents house in Idaho.  It’s the perfect place to laze away a day lounging on the boat and watching the water and boats pass by the marina or get out of the slip and head out onto the lake and find our own private spot to relax. Admittedly it was an ideal way to spend a childhood.  There isn’t a single memory of the lake or camping that isn’t a good one.  I hope my kids will remember the times we’ve gone there with fondness as well.
So tell me, how would you have answered Two on Tuesday this week?

Two On Tuesday with Blogging Mama

It’s time for Two on Tuesday with Blogging Mama.  Thank you to the whole two people who played last week!  If you want to play along please do so either in the comments or on your own site.  You can add my swell button to your blog if you like.

Two on Tuesday

Here’s how Two on Tuesday works.  On Tuesdays I’ll ask two questions or tell you about two things, the theme is TWO of something.  I hope you’ll want to play along!  Let me know if you link me to your site so I can stop over and say hello (and give you free linky love).

Today’s Two on Tuesday:

Tell me about something you collect.  It can be weird, normal whatever.  What do you collect?  If you don’t collect anything what would you collect if you could?
If you could spend an afternoon talking face to face with one (or two) other blogger(s) who would it be and why?
My answers:  I collect books.  There are books on all four floors of my house.  It’s kind of out of control and somewhere in a storage facility in Baltimore with the rest of my furniture are more books.  My dream would to be locked in a Barnes and Noble overnight.  I definitely miss not having a library nearby as it was one of my favorite places to go in the past.
If I had extra money I’d also collect Carltonware Walking Cups.  I have no idea why I love them so much but I do.  I have yet to buy one but maybe someday.
The second one I don’t want to answer because I don’t want to hurt anyones feelings if I don’t pick them.  🙂 But if I had to pick someone (forced at gunpoint or something) I’d have to pick Tisra at LifeTrain because she was such a wonderful support during my adoption and she lives in a cool town.  Plus she’s a very gifted artist, be sure to check out her Etsy shop if you stop by.
I’d also pick Crash at Crash Test Dummies.  She lives in Hawaii and she knows Jack Johnson.  Plus she’s wicked funny.  If you visit her be sure to check out her comment box, that’s where the fun happens.  She hosted a slumber party in her comment box a few weeks ago and it was the wildest, funniest party I’ve ever been too.
So tell me, how would you have answered Two on Tuesday this week?
Check out these awesome bloggers who are participating!  Thanks everyone! (If I can get enough of you I’ll get a Mr Linky set up in the future.)
First up: C N Heidelberg She collects something pretty interesting!
Debbie collects books too!  And she’d meet everyone if she could.
Valerie (aka my big sis) played along but her blog is private sorry!
Youngblood4ever has some great collections (wahoo!) and some cool bloggers she’d like to meet.
Missty is playing too!

Two on Tuesday with Blogging Mama

There was a small issue with the page but it is fixed now, so please won’t you play along today?

Welcome to the very first Two on Tuesday with Blogging Mama!  A brand new weekly event on the site I hope you will be willing to jump in and participate in today and every Tuesday.  You can grab your code for my cute little button over to the right. (Thanks Sis for being the first.)

I started Two on Tuesday because in compiling my Daily Inspiration for Posts list I saw that Tuesday didn’t have anything.  How sad!  I mean Monday is always the day after the weekend, it gets plenty of attention (see Not Me Monday’s at MckMamas!).  Wednesday has Hump day after all and several weekly events like Wordful Wednesday at Seven Clown Circus and Wordless Wednesday at Cecily and MamaGeek.  Thursday of course is the day before Friday so it gets a lot of special attention too.  Sometimes Thursday gets treated extra special like a  Friday when a three day weekend is involved.  It is also Thankful Thursday at Grace Alone.  Friday of course is celebrated for being Friday the fun day, the kickoff to the weekend.  It also plays host to Candid Carrie’s Photo Friday, What Are You Wearing? at Tiara’s & Tantrums, and Photostory Friday also hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek.

So that left poor lonely Tuesday.  I had to step in and step up and help little old Tuesday out.  No one wants to be left all alone.  Here’s what we are going to be doing on Tuesdays:

It’s Tuesday!  So that means it’s time for a new game.  I’ll post two questions (or two something, the theme is Two) on Tuesday morning (which for a lot of you is middle of the night Monday).  Answer the two questions I post either on your own site or in the comments.   Afterwards put Two on Tuesday on your own site.  I even made a pretty little button for the event.  Feel free to snag it but make sure to link it back to me so everyone knows you’re participating.  Leave a comment so I can come over and check it all out!  I will link your site in my blog post if you play along.

Two on Tuesday with Blogging Mama

Pick three people, alive or dead, that you would most want to invite over for dinner in your home.

I’m posting a picture.  Tell me what you see (be descriptive, create a paragraph)

My answers:

Chevy Chase because he is so funny and I grew up watching his movies.  Not just the Lampoons series but has anyone seen Fletch?  Pure genius.

Claude Monet because I love love love his work.  I’ve been to his former home in Giverny France and it was amazing.  I’d love to know more about him.

Dave Matthews because I’ve seen him three times in concert and I love his music.  A private concert would be worth whipping up any meal he wanted!

A picture description:

The ripe plump deep purple globes, grapes they call them but the end result makes them seem like so much more than ordinary fruit.  As they hang on the vine in summer the warm air that wafts past smells like the juice the fruit contains.  Sweet and soft.  But if I were to remove a grape and put it in my mouth it would not be the heavenly delight I seek, it would be bitter.  At the top of the hill sits a stand to look out over the valley of wine growers below.  The grapevines climb the side of the hill defying the logic of gravity.  Come October I know these hills will be full of laborers clinging to the mountside picking the fruit that will become the wine.  Fresh from the vine in the valley is a stand in front of a small dwelling, both home and shop.  A friendly winegrower sells her vintage out front offering conversation and a taste of her wares to all who pass by.  Who am I to resist such temptation?

So tell me, how would you have answered Two on Tuesday this week?
